Medical Camp 2017

          Under the Pharm.D programme, St.Joseph’s college of Pharmacy organized a medical camp at St.Thomas U.P School Mavadi, Nedumkandam, Idukki district in association with AASRAYA charitable society on 26th March 2017. We conducted home to home visit prior to the medical camp to identify the health issues prevalent in the locality, their perception about available medical and pharmaceutical care services. Students were divided into seven groups. The camp members visited 220 homes and educated the patients as well as care givers with the aid of patient information leaflets. Each team could identify some pertinent health and pharmaceutical care issues. Most of the pharmaceutical care issues and some health issues could be resolved during the visit.
          The medical camp was inaugurated by the Block Panjayat president, Udumpumchola . Dr. Sr. Betty Carla, the director of St.Joseph’s college of Pharmacy chaired the meeting and Dr. Sr. Daisy PA , Vice Principal proposed the vote of thanks . The patients could consult Dr.Thomas, Dr.Sunil and Dr.Carolin from different specialties. The medicines were dispensed free of cost. About 300 patients could get medical and pharmaceutical care services including individualized counseling regarding the disease and medications in addition to the mass education given to them regarding common life style diseases like diabetes, hypertension and asthma. The participants could check their blood pressure, blood sugar and the blood grouping as well.
The event was co-ordinated by Mr. R. PraveenRaj and Mr. Siby Joseph. The faculty members Mr. Dawn .V Tomy, Sr. Binu Jose Veliyath and Sr. Gifty MSJ took the leadership along with the Charitable Society at Mavadi.
