Pharmacology is the core scientific discipline which connects other pharmacy departments to preclinical animal experimental studies which ultimately culminates in clinical drug therapy The key areas are pharmacodynamic studies which includes the effect of drugs of biological systems, it's molecular, cellular, organ level and organism level with its unwanted effects ie, toxicology. The Subject is intended to impart fundamental knowledge on various aspects of drugs on different systems of body and in addition emphasis on basic concepts of bio assays. The department has well established laboratories with all modern equipments necessary for conducting practical and research for B.Pharm, M.Pharm and PharmD Courses.
Other than regular theoretical non interventional pharmacology studies using softwares in pharmacology we have central animal house facility (registered to CPCSEA number 1405/PO/Re/S/11/CPCSEA and IAEC) for training in animal experiments for our students. Apart from all prescribed instruments by approving authorities, we provide additional instruments like digital plethysmometer , 4 channel physiograph ,digital grip strength ,Vogel conflict ,gel documentation, refrigerated centrifuge ,digital kymograph ,semiauto analyser, various mazes and special softwares for locomotory studies etc for students interested in advanced studies We also undertake studies from other academic and industrial organisations as part of our commitment for expanding the knowledge base and technology transfer
